Activity Suspension Extended

AYSA Members and Affiliates,

Alaska Youth Soccer highest priority is ensuring to provide a healthy and safe environment for activity within our soccer programs and leagues, as well as that of the community at large. Based on the latest information from our national governing bodies, the CDC, State and city governments AYSA is extending the suspension of AYSA managed leagues, clubs and sanctioning soccer related activity until May 1, 2020 at which time we will reevaluate our state situation and decide the best time until we can get back to full play.

The Alaska Youth Soccer suspension through May 1 will include sanctioned soccer activities that would cause our players, families, officials and staff to gather in close proximity but is not limited to league games, practices, friendlies, clinics, trainings, coaching education courses, tournaments, tryouts, travel permits etc. Any activities conducted prior to May 1, 2020 would be considered not sanctioned by Alaska Youth Soccer and will not be covered by Alaska Youth Soccer liability and Secondary Accident Insurance. All clubs and leagues are asked to honor this suspension of activity.

AYSA understands this is an unprecedented action, and it is not one that we would take without considerable thought and realize the potential impact on leagues, clubs, teams and families.

Looking forward into the summer season, as clubs and leagues prepare for the summer programs and open registration please continue to support your local club…through these tough times it is important that we remain united for the future sustainability of youth soccer in our local areas. We are hopeful that these recent actions will lessen the overall length of postponements and allow us to readily move forward once the restrictions are lifted.

Alaska Youth Soccer would like to thank our Alaska Soccer Community for your ongoing support as we manage our programming given the current health and travel environment.

Alaska Youth Soccer priority will be to provide continued communication and support with our leagues and clubs. The state office will remain operational throughout this difficult time and will be available to assist members as needed. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you for your cooperation to protect our Alaska Soccer Community.

Sincerely,

Linda Burke

AYSA Executive Director
